About the Children's Room
The Children's Room
The Worcester Public Library's Children's Room serves children and families, teachers, and others working with children or children's literature. The staff is here to help you enjoy your library, find materials, research in the library in print and online, and to answer any other questions you may have.
We have a large collection of fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, videogames, and magazines. For use in the library we have computers with internet access, early literacy stations, and an iPad. Although the computers in the children's room are just for patrons ages 12 and under, we have laptops that caregivers can borrow while here with their children. We also host a variety of programs and events.
Children may have their own cards from birth. A parent's signature and verification of address is all that is required. With a card you may check out material at all branches of the Worcester Public Library, as well as other libraries in the CW/MARS network.
Books, magazines, CDs, and audiobooks may be borrowed for three weeks. DVDs circulate for one week. You may check out up to 50 items at a time, only 20 of which can be DVDs. Library materials are available in many languages.
Schedule a Visit
We welcome school groups, daycares, and afterschool programs to visit. We do our best to accommodate everyone. If you would like to visit with a group, we would be happy to facilitate Library Card registrations and provide a tour. We also welcome outreach opportunities, and we will do our best to visit community organizations and schools to talk about the Library and Library programs.
Please give us at least three weeks notice. Contact us by phone at 508-799-1671.
