Geoffrey M. Dickinson, Head Librarian
Geoffrey M. Dickinson brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position of Head Librarian at the Worcester Public Library. His career in the public library system began in 2002, shortly after earning his master’s degree in library science from Indiana University. His history in the library, technology, and public service field, along with his proven track record of building collaborative relationships with community organizations, brings a great vision for the future of the library system in the City of Worcester.
Dickinson’s previous experience includes a position as a Reference and Information Services Librarian at the Ames Free Library in North Easton, to serving as Acting Director of the New Bedford Free Library, a multi-branch library system in New Bedford, MA.
In his role as Head Librarian, Dickinson intends to use his Information Technology experience to help mold the library into a 21st Century model of the modern library, best suited to the needs of its patrons.
Dickinson enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two children. He is also an accomplished viola player, and enjoys running and staying active.
