POW! WOW! Worcester Mural

In September of 2018, the Worcester Public Library took part in the third POW! WOW! Worcester event. As part of the event, artist WRDSMTH created a 43-foot mural on the front of the Main Library, in the heart of downtown Worcester. The piece was painted as part of the ten day POW! WOW! Worcester festival, which saw over 30 artists from all over the world converge on the city to create art.

The artist was inspired by the institution of the library, as well as Worcester resident Charles Thurber, who patented the first modern-day typewriter in 1843, just 1.5 miles from the mural’s location. WRDSMTH also created an installation of a QWERTY keyboard as a companion piece to the mural.

About the Artist

WRDSMTH is a published author, screenwriter, former advertising copywriter, and an emerging street artist. Born and raised in the Midwest, he relocated to LA and started doing time in Hollywood, chasing the dream like countless others. Past and present worlds merged when he came up with the concept for WRDSMTH - a unique combination of stenciling and wheatpasting - and began tattooing walls in LA with indelible thoughts and phrases.

Active in the street art community since November 2013, he’s made his mark in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, San Diego, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Memphis, West Palm Beach, Miami, Toronto, London, Paris, Berlin, Kraków, Edinburgh, Melbourne, Tokyo, and Auckland, New Zealand. He’s been featured in Forbes, LA Weekly, The Huffington Post, and LA Magazine, and he was named one of The Art of Elsyum’s 2014 Emerging Artists.

“This is my palette. A mere twenty-six deep, yet the possibilities are infinite.”
