How do I get a Worcester Public Library card?
All you need is proof of your current address and you will receive your Library card immediately. We’ll still need to see your proof of current address when you come to pick up your card.
- Apply for a card using our online application
- Fill out our print version and bring your copy into one of our branches
Can I use my Library Card on the day I apply?
Yes! You may have up to 50 items checked out on your card.
Can I give my Library card to a friend or family member to use for themselves?
No. You are responsible for everything checked out on your card and if the items are not returned you will be held responsible for them.
How can I renew my items?
You may renew your items by accessing your Library account online. You may also renew your items at any one of our self-checkout machines or call any Branch of the Library to renew. Materials owned by our Library can be renewed 2 times.
Can I have someone else pick up my holds for me?
Someone else must have your Library card in order to pick up items being held in your name. Without your card, staff members are unable to give your hold to another individual.
If I forget my PIN number what should I do?
A PIN number gives you access to your own Library card account and is necessary to use the computers in the Library. Your PIN number can be reset when you try to access your account or come into the Library with your Library card and photo I.D. and staff at a service desk can help you. You may also reset your pin online or at the library Welcome Desk.
What happens if I forget my Library card?
You may use a photo I.D. at the circulation desk if you forget your card, however, you must have your Library card to use our self-checkout machines and the DVD dispenser at the Main Library. It is important to always use your Library card as this reduces error. There can be many people with the same name but your Library card is unique!
