January Program Highlights

This month you won’t want to miss the opening of Discover Tech: Engineers Make a World of Difference, an interactive exhibit that highlights the important, creative work that engineers do all over the world to solve problems and make the world a better place! Join us for the exhibit opening on Saturday, January 13 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. to get the first look! We'll have special guests, fun activities and a schedule of all the special programs taking place while the exhibit is here. The exhibit runs from January 13 through March 9.

On Monday, January 22 at 3:30 p.m. we’ll host the first of three Engineering Challenges. Join us for Wind-powered cars! What’s the best way to make a car powered by wind? Will the design affect how far it goes? What about how the wind is delivered? Let’s find out! We’ll use simple materials to build and test the cars.

The second Engineering Challenge will be held on Monday, January 30 at 3:30 p.m. Stop by for Building Tall and think like an engineer with the Marshmallow and Toothpick Challenge. What is the tallest freestanding structure you can build with marshmallows and toothpicks? The Marshmallow Challenge combines engineering with the creative aspects of arts and crafts.

Finally, all you Star Wars fanatics won’t want to miss Star Wars Symposium on Saturday, January 27 at 2 p.m. Join us to explore a galaxy far, far away with a pop-up Star Wars museum/display made up of toys, Star Wars memorabilia and - of course - books! This four-part presentation includes a history lesson, character ID games, some fun videos of how Star Wars is part of our mainstream culture now, a Costume Contest, and a trivia game.*

We will also have lots of other fun programs going on this month including storytimes and Legos!
